How are we doing on our first Summer Programme post COVID-19?




We are thrilled to share some truly exceptional news with you about Babington Education's performance during the first Summer Programme post COVID-19. Our English language learning center for kids in Hong Kong, catering to children between the ages of 3 to 12 years, has not only weathered the challenges posed by the pandemic but has also surpassed our own expectations, reaffirming the robustness and resilience of the education industry.


As we all know, the economy in Hong Kong faced significant setbacks due to the pandemic, leading to a mass emigration of people and the temporary closure of schools across the region. However, with the lifting of COVID-19 policies and the gradual return to normalcy, we anticipated that parents would seek enriching experiences for their children, particularly during this year's summer season.


Traditionally, our summer program runs from mid-July to the end of August. We measure the success of each summer by comparing the revenue generated during this period with the average revenue from the preceding three months. In the pre-pandemic summer of 2019, we achieved an average revenue of 157% compared to the regular program months. This means our centers made 57% more revenue during July and August on average.


Given the uncertainties and challenges faced this year, we set a conservative target of 110%, aiming to achieve just 10% more revenue than the regular program months. However, we are delighted to announce that we have far surpassed this target with flying colors!


As of July 25th, our total group average stands at an impressive 135%, and what's even more remarkable is that three out of four centers have scored an outstanding 153%, which is merely 2.6% away from the peak of 2019. And the best part? We still have one week and one month remaining in the summer, giving us the confidence that our revenue will continue to climb even higher. There is a real possibility of surpassing the 2019 score as we continue to attract more students to our summer program.
